Planting box which can be built up using bar-shaped concrete elements and which is intended as protection for the roots of street trees and as a support for the surface grating for the trees. The box is assembled in the same way as a timber housing by building a frame of the desired height using the concrete bars 1, 2 and 3. The bars are locked to each other by means of grooves 4 and tenons 5 in contiguous surfaces at the corners. The bars which are level with the roots are provided with openings 7. On sloping ground, the bars 8, 9 in the top layer are higher at one end, corresponding to the difference in height of the ground. The planting box is suitable as protection for newly planted trees and for old ones. It represents a quick, sturdy and economic solution, and one which does not interfere with other road repairs. <IMAGE>
