摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially extend the service life of a furnace in comparison with that of the conventional furnace by preventing mechanical spalling in the initial stage of operation and fall-out of a brick in the end stage of the operation, in a side wall structure wear lining for steelmaking having crossing parts at the upper and lower parts. SOLUTION: In the wear lining structure in a converter for steelmaking, an expansion part is arranged so as to be wide at a working surface side and gradually narrower from the working surface side toward a back surface side at a joint part of the brick in the circumferential direction at the right angle to the furnace axis at a straight barrel vertical part, and the vertical joint thickness in the parallel direction to the furnace axis is made to be constant and also, the joint thickness in the circumferential direction from the working surface of the side wall toward the back surface except brick lying at the straight barrel vertical part interposed by the crossing parts at the upper and lower parts and the vertical joint thickness in the parallel direction to the furnace axis are made to be constant. The expansion part at the working surface side in the brick lying in the straight barrel vertical part interposed by the crossing parts at the upper and lower parts is sufficient to absorb 40-100% of the expanding amount at the use temperature of the brick, and formed in the range of 5-60% of the brick thickness from the working surface side.
