The device has an electrooptical light device for emitting alight signal, a timer for providing a time signal and a controller for controlling the light device with an electrical signal based on an external status signal and the time signal. The controller controls the light device with a constant electrical signal independently of the status signal after receiving a second pulse of the time signal. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: a theft warning system with an inventive device; and a method of displaying a state of a theft warning system and a central locking system.
