PURPOSE: A character conversion system and method is provided to convert contact points, input via a touch panel by a user, into text characters, and to display the text characters on a display of a refrigerator, where the touch panel is used for a schedule management, a food list construction or storage, and an e-mail transmission. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a display(1), a touch panel(2), a character processor(3) and a main controller(4). The display(1), installed at a front of a refrigerator, outputs an image according to image control signals transmitted by an external device. The touch panel(2), connected to the display(1), calculates coordinate values of touch points touched by a user, and recognizes the positions on the touch panel according to the coordinate values. The character processor(3) calculates the coordinate values, generates corresponding text character values, and transmits the text character values to the main controller(4). The main controller(4) controls a transmission of the characters corresponding to the transmitted text character values, performs a function corresponding to an instruction via the touch panel(1), and controls overall processes of characters. |
