PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting an error in a communication system is provided to prevent a malfunction of generating an error on a communication channel by utilizing parity bits. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for detecting an error in a communication system includes a buffer(12) for storing data of a processor(11) in a memory(21a). The first parity generating part(13) generates odd and even parity bits by latching a data bus. The first parity error detecting part(14) detects an error by comparing a new parity bit value with a prior parity bit value. A main controller(10) corrects errors detected by the first parity error detecting part(14). The second parity generating part(22) generates odd and even parity bits by latching a data bus of a memory(21a) in which data of a processor(23) is stored. The second parity error detecting part(24) detects an error by comparing a new parity bit value with a prior parity bit value generated from the second parity generating part(22). The second processing part(23) corrects errors detected by the second parity error detecting part(24).
