PURPOSE: A device and a method for managing software version are provided to detect a software error which is generated when upgrading software of each processor board effectively in a system device and converting the software into a previous version safely without an interference of an operator. CONSTITUTION: An MCU(Main Control Unit)(10) performs a main control of a system device. A sub unit(20) is linked with the MCU(10) and performs a function necessary in the system device. A ROM(21) is positioned in the sub unit(20) and stores a boot program. A flash memory(22) stores data necessary for the sub unit(20). A CSS(Current Start Sector)(23) is positioned in the flash memory(22) and displays the currently using section. A reset counter(24) is positioned in the flash memory(22) and displays the number of reset times of a software execution file at a section in the flash memory(22).
