PURPOSE: A suction air amount control method for a vehicle is provided to control idle rpm stably and accurately by learning the air amount according to range and comparing present temperature with the learning value. CONSTITUTION: A control unit detects the engine condition by analyzing information from sensors in starting the engine(S101-S103). The control unit detects coolant temperature from a coolant temperature detecting unit in learning mode(S104), and compares with the learning reference value corresponding to each step(S105). The mean value is calculated corresponding to the range in case of coolant temperature to be within the range of learning reference values(S106), and the air amount is compensated by storing the learning value(S107). Idle rpm of the engine is controlled stably by compensating the air amount with an actuator(S113). Sudden increase of engine rpm is prevented, and starting is improved by learning the compensation value of the air amount corresponding to each range.
