PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for processing an image signal capable of correcting a stationary error of a DC component of image data A/D-converted from an output of a clomping circuit to a reference value, and an image display device. SOLUTION: An error of the image signal Sin input synchronously with a clamp pulse signal CO to a reference level S40 is corrected in a clamping circuit 10, converted into image data S20 by an A/D converter 20, and compared in amplitude with prescribed reference data Dref by a comparator 30. Thus, a reference level S40 corresponding to the comparison result is fed back from a filter 40 to the clamper 10. This data S20 is added at the less significant bit with extended data having a prescribed number of bits by a bit extending unit 50, synthesized by prescribed correction data Dc by an adder 60, and then limited at a data value within a prescribed range by a data limiter 70. Thus, the stationary error of the data S20 is corrected.
