PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high display quality by preventing a columnar resin pattern to form a panel gap from peeling. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a substrate 11, switching active elements 4 formed on the one side surface of the substrate 11, a resin film 15 covering a nearly full surface of the one side surface of the substrate 11 with the switching active elements 4 formed thereon, the columnar resin pattern 17 formed on the resin film 15 to hold the gap of the liquid crystal panel and a pixel electrode pattern 2 connected to and driven with the switching active elements 4 and further formed in a position which does not overlap with the columnar resin pattern 17. Therefore the adhesion of the columnar resin pattern 17 to the substrate 11 is enhanced and the high display quality is realized. Also a short-circuit counter-current is not generated because the pixel electrode pattern 2 is not formed on the columnar resin pattern 17.
