PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which uses EL elements and always displays a high quality image by eliminating induced electric charges caused by the changes in external environment while the elements are turned off. SOLUTION: An organic EL element 5 is turned on by a turn on start pulse Ps inputted to an active element circuit during a turn-on time Td and turned off by a turn off pulse Pe. During a turned off time interval of the element 5, a reset pulse Pr having a pulse width that is correspondingly set to a video signal level is inputted to a setting number of times active element circuit and the element 5 is reset. Induced electric charges generated onto the element 5 by the changes in external environment during the turned off time interval are eliminated by the turned on time of a next field and a complete reset is conducted. Thus, video data writing to the element 5 in a next time is conducted to the element 5, which is a complete reset state, in a highly precise manner and the occurrence of quality deterioration of a display image caused by the changes in the external environment is completely prevented. |
