The light beam passing through the sampling duct travels across the direction of the flow of fumes, with the duct set lengthwise in a diametrical support (8) with apertures in its ends for optical fibre (9, 10). The detector also has a comparator (5) for the light energy emitted by the source and received by the receiver, and an indicator (6) for the difference between them and thus the energy absorbed by the fumes, with the absorption rate being representative of the quality of combustion. When the absorption rate shows poor quality combustion a safety system (7) connected electrically to a fuel feed valve for the burner shuts off the fuel feed. |
