PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an unexpected leak of fuel as small as possible, by accurately detecting damage of a fuel pipe. SOLUTION: This control device for a fuel pump 27 supplying fuel to an engine 1 comprises a fuel pressure sensor 29 detecting a fuel pressure in a fuel pipe 28 from a fuel tank 26 to a fuel injection valve 20 and a control unit 30 stopping a drive of the fuel pump 27 when a condition of low fuel pressure is detected by this sensor 29. When a fuel leak is caused by generating damage in the fuel pipe 28, an insufficient rise or a decrease of the fuel pressure occurs, this phenomenon is caught, and the damage of the fuel pipe 28 can be accurately detected. In the case of detecting the damage, by stopping driving of the fuel pump 27, an unexpected leak of fuel can be checked to a minimum limit.
