The method involves detecting signals representative of the current wheel moment by mans of wheel sensors (10,12) in the drive shaft. A differential determination of a wheel torque which is too high is carried out for different drive situations, in an analysis unit (20). An identification unit (30) examines the current drive situation and activates a limiter (40) if the identification unit indicates that limiting is necessary.
