A suction device (I), based on a commercially available medical syringe provided with an additional component (5) with one end (6) attached to the end of the syringe piston rod, while the other end (8) is clamped onto the syringe cylinder and serves as a finger rest. With simultaneous use of the fingers and the thumb, the suction device can be operated with one hand.
