The drive control for a motor vehicle has a clutch control (40,46) to connect the engine (50) and wheels (80,90) of the vehicle. A hill brake (30,70) has a brake pedal position sensor (10) to detect the end of pedal operation. A drive control (20) provides drive take up as the brake pedal is released. The clutch control (40,60) regulates the drive to the wheels when the pedal position sensor detects the end of pedal travel.
