PURPOSE: An AAL2(ATM Adaptation Layer 2) switch service system and method in a subscriber matching device of an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switch system is provided to use an AAL2 service with reference to the efficiency of band in an ATM network. CONSTITUTION: A receipt UTOPIA(Universal Test and Operations PHY Interface for ATM) interface unit(11) receives an AAL2-processed ATM cell. A packet processing unit(12) receives the ATM cell through the receipt UTOPIA interface unit(11), detects various errors, analyzes connection information, packet control information, and packet storing information, and extracts an AAL2 packet from the corresponding ATM cell. A cell processing unit(13) reads the AAL2 packet extracted in the packet processing unit(12), assembles the read AAL2 packet as a cell again, and determines a transmission time of the corresponding cell through a time scheduler. A transmission UTOPIA interface unit(14) transmits the cell according to the control of the cell processing unit(12).
