The invention concerns a self-contained device for location and assistance designed for the blind, people with impaired sight and handicapped people. There are relatively few devices enabling a blind person to move about and direct themselves. The invention aims at making up for that by providing a self-contained and self-powered aid device. Said device based on a micro-computer card (1) enables to manage a GPS card (5), a GSM modem (6) for transmitting data, a GSM telephone card (7) with its earphone (11) and microphone (10). Said micro-computer card (1) is provided with a management software (4) and a map database on a CD-ROM type support (9). A powering assembly (8), a button key pad for switching on the device (13) as well as sensors and detectors (12) complete the assembly. All those components enable to accurately calculate a user's position to communicate to him data designed to direct and assist him. The man/machine interface operates through speech-synthesis message. The inventive device is particularly designed to guide and assist blind people or people with impaired sight. |
