PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a label printer capable of preventing erroneous printing on a label which is not fit to the set printing information. SOLUTION: This label printer comprises a platen roller 16 that conveys a liner 13 having a label 12 peelably stuck thereto, a magnetic head 19 for reading label information recorded on a magnetic bar formed on the liner 13 in the conveyance direction, a thermal head 21 for printing on the label 12 stuck to the liner 13, and a control section 50 that judges whether or not the label information read by the magnetic head 19 is fit to the set printing information, prepares for the printing on the label 12 when the label information is fit to the printing information and prohibits the printing when it is not.
