LIGAND FOR CD28 RECEPTOR ON B CELL AND METHOD FOR REGULATING INTERCELLULAR INTERACTION USING THE LIGAND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regulating the CD28-positive T cell response and the immunological response mediated by T cell and an assay method for detecting a cell receptor mediating the inter-cellular adhesion and a reactive ligand. SOLUTION: It was found that B7 antigen is a ligand reactive to CD28 receptor on T cell. A method for regulating the CD28-positive T cell response and the immunological response mediated by T cell using B7 antigen, fragments thereof and derivatives therefrom, CD28 receptor, fragments thereof and derivatives therefrom, and an antibody or other molecule reactive with B7 antigen and/or CD28 receptor are provided. An assay method for detecting a ligand reactive with a cell receptor mediating the inter-cellular adhesion is also provided.
