PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting apparatus that cuts gelidium jelly or the like into thin strips, which provides better working efficiency and lower production cost without a necessity of preparation of an additional container. SOLUTION: The cutting apparatus includes a container 11 having an opening on the top, a longitudinally rectangular shape seen from the top and a consistent cross section in the longitudinal direction, and a grid knife 14 with its cutting edge 13 aligned orientated to one direction. Thus the cutting apparatus is provided with a cutting means 15 to cut the gelidium jelly material or the like 12 loaded inside the container 11 into a large number of thin strips.
