PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording, reproducing and recording and reproducing device, etc., capable of preventing missing of data while minimizing the deterioration in quality. SOLUTION: High-frequency and low-frequency sub-band signals are encoded from inputted audio data 100 and respective pieces of the formed encoding data are added with respective pieces of the position information of the high-frequency and low-frequency encoding data and the high-frequency and low-frequency encoding data are written in separate positions in the memory region of a recording medium 104. When the residual memory capacity of the recording medium 104 falls down below a prescribed capacity, only the low-frequency sub-band signals are formed relating to the freshly inputted data 100 and further, the high-frequency encoding data is erased by clearing the position information of the high-frequency encoding data in the low-frequency encoding data corresponding to the high-frequency encoding data already stored on the recording medium 104 and the freshly formed low-frequency encoding data is successively written to the erased portions. As a result, even if there is no more residual capacity of the recording medium 104, the recording continuation of the low-frequency encoding data is assured.
