PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly perform normal reproducing operation by maintaining synchronizing signals for reproduction at the optimal phase, in a device for reproducing signals from a disk 1 by irradiating it with a laser beam from an optical head 4. SOLUTION: This disk player is equipped with an external synchronizing signal generation circuit 8 for, generating synchronizing signals for reproduction that function as timing reference in reading output signals from the optical head 4 and in detecting reproducing signals; a delay circuit 12; a circuit 7 for detecting reproducing signals by reading output signals from the optical head 4 on the basis of the synchronizing signals for reproduction; and a system controller 10 for applying phase adjustment to the synchronizing signals for reproducing generated by the delay circuit 12, by changing the phase of the synchronizing signals for reproduction, executing a reproducing operation, and thereby deciding the optimal phase for a normal reproducing operation.
