PURPOSE: A portable phone public telephone call system and method is provided to reduce the call charge by enable a user to use a public telephone using his portable phone. CONSTITUTION: A blue box(10) to connect a portable phone(20) to a PSTN(12a) is composed of a Bluetooth chip set(11), a public telephone main body(12), and a logic interface(13). The Bluetooth chip set(11) transmits and receives data with the portable phone(20) in a short range radio communication method. The public telephone main body(12) connects the portable phone(20), capable of transmitting and receiving data through the Bluetooth chip set(11), with the PSTN(12a). The logic interface(13), located between the Bluetooth chip set(11) and the public telephone main body(12), converts control data suitably for the Bluetooth chip set(11) and the public telephone main body(12) respectively.
