PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication unit where a scanner section reading image information is separated from a main body section of the image communication unit, the scanner section transfers the image information to the main body section and the main body section applies transmission processing to the image information read by the scanner section, and the operator of the image communication unit can recognize occurrence of facsimile reception without the need for visit to a place at which the main body section is installed. SOLUTION: In the image communication unit, when the main body section receives a facsimile signal, the main body section uses a wireless communication means to transmit the fact to the handy scanner section, when the handy scanner section receives the information from the main body section through the wireless communication means, the handy scanner section uses an LED lamp, an LCD display device, an alarm sound and a voice guidance or the like to inform a user about the arrival of the facsimile reception to the main body section.
