PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a tone signal in a VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) system is provided to minimize a loss or wrong recognition of DTMF information while guaranteeing a character of real time when a VoIP system transmits a DTMF signal. CONSTITUTION: An originating VoIP system and a serving VoIP system respectively create a DTMF transmitting task and a DTMF receiving task, open sockets using a UDP transmitting port and a UDP receiving port, and set up a DTMF transmitting port and a DTMF receiving port(300). If a voice channel is allocated as VoIP call setup is completed, voice data are transmitted between the VoIP systems(302). In this state, if a DTMF signal is generated from a telephone and it is inputted to the originating VoIP system, the DTMF signal is detected by a DSP manager task(304). The DSP manager task sends this information to the DTMF transmitting task through an H.323 main control task. The DTMF transmitting task transmits a DTMF information message, the digit information of the detected DTMF signal, to the DTMF receiving port of the serving VoIP system(306). Receiving the DTMF information message, the serving VoIP system generates a DTMF signal corresponding to the digit information of the DTMF information message and sends it to a serving side subscriber(310).
