<p>The invention relates to a direct printing apparatus in which computer generated image information is converted into a pattern of electrostatic fields, which selectively transport electrically charged particles from a particle carrier (1033) toward a back electrode through a printhead structure (1005), whereby th e charged particles are deposited in image configuration on an image receiving substrate caused to move relative to the printhead structure. The printhead structure (1005) is in contact at one end with a moving surface of the particle carrier and has an arcuate shape in its longitudinal direction such that the difference between the radial distance (Lk1) from the surface of the particle carrier to the opposite surfaces of the control electrodes of a first row of apertures and the radial distance (Lk2) from the surface of the particle carrier to the opposite surfaces of the control electrodes of an adjacent second row of apertures is less than 40 microns.</p> |
