The apparatus has a propulsion assembly including a support cradle (3) for supporting an internal engine (2) and swinging close to a transom (16) of a boat (1) along a horizontal swinging axis. The engine is coupled to a drive shaft (4) extending on its rotational axis and carrying a propeller (5) on its end. Two semi-circular arms (6) are connected to the cradle by a side arm (9) so as to triangulate the assembly not to be deformed. The assembly is connected to a support beam (15) fixed inside the transom, and allows rotation of the assembly along a vertical axis.
