PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent light from leaking from a locking hole for fixing a light guide plate in a holding case without depending on a light shielding tape. SOLUTION: A locking means 50 consisting of a locking projection 52 formed at the end surface side of the light guide plate 30 and a locking hole 51 formed in the side frame 22 of a holding case 20 in a hollowed shape, is used as a locking means for fixing the light guide plate 30 in the holding case 20 made of a synthetic resin so that the light guide plate 30 does not drop out. In a backlight for a liquid crystal display element constituted by using the such locking means 50, a thin wall 221 included in part of outside walls of the side frame 22 is left for light shielding at the locking hole 51 side. |
