PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sensitivity to the total resistance value with a sensor kept active. SOLUTION: A sensor element 50 of an A/F sensor includes a solid electrolyte 51 having an oxygen ion conductivity, an exhaust gas side electrode 52 provided on one side of the solid electrolyte 51, a reference gas side electrode 53 installed on the other side of the solid electrolyte 51 facing a reference gas chamber 65 and a pair of lead parts 54 and 55 with ends at one hand thereof connected to the respective electrodes 52 and 53 and the other ends thereof the respective terminal parts 56 and 57 for fetching signals separately. When the total resistance value with the sensor kept active is A in an electrical path comprising the solid electrolyte 51, the electrodes 52 and 53 and the lead parts 54 and 55 and the resistance value of the lead parts 54 and 55 at the normal temperature is B, B/A<0.5 should be established. |
