PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus capable of preventing deterioration of image quality caused by shift in feed quantity of recording paper. SOLUTION: An ink jet printer P1 is equipped with a paper feed tray 2, a paper discharge tray 3, a recording paper feed passage 4, a paper supply feed roller 5, a paper supply feed follower roller 6, a PS roller 7, a PS follower roller 8, a platen 9, an ink carriage 10, a paper discharge feed roller 11, and a paper discharge follower roller 12. The ink jet printer P1 is further equipped with a plurality of feed belts 20 trained over the paper supply feed roller 5 and the paper discharge feed roller 11 and holding recording paper 1 between the follower rollers 6 and 12 to feed the same and furthermore provided with a drive means 24 for driving two feed rollers 5 and 11 at the same speed.
