PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of easily correcting the positional shift of a nozzle by processing data even in such a case that an image is to be formed by discharging ink from a head at the time of reciprocating movement. SOLUTION: Since developing memories 105Y, 105M, 105C and 105K store the correction data corresponding to the positional shift of the nozzle, a proper image can be formed without separately requiring a shift timing signal by synthesizing the correction data to image data at the time of actual discharge of ink. By this constitution, the simplification of a signal line, the compactification of constitution or cost reduction can be achieved.
