PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable freezing capacity by controlling by a controller the on/off operation of a clutch of each outdoor unit. SOLUTION: A freezing cycle provided in the engine driven refrigerating apparatus is constituted of compressors driven by means of engines and clutches, outdoor heat-exchangers, expansion valves four-way valves, indoor heat- exchangers and a controller for controlling those respective elements. A plurality of compressors are connected parallel in the refrigerating cycle to constitutes outdoor units in this apparatus. In the outdoor units, at the time when conditions for starting-on control are satisfied by individual controller of each indoor unit, each outdoor unit requests a go-ahead on clutch-on control through communication with a controller 20. In the controller 20, a predetermined time interval is installed so that two or more outdoor-units do not make simultaneously or continuously the clutch-on control.
