PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a aliphatic polyester multifilament crimped yarn suitable for carpet that can attain excellent high gloss, high color development and fabric hand that could not be achieved in the past and is readily degradable in the natural environment, and the carpet produced from the yarn. SOLUTION: The objective multifilament crimped yarn is made of an aliphatic polyester melting at >=130 deg.C and has the crimp elongation of 3-35% after treatment with boiled water, the average filament fineness of 3-35 decitex and the ratio (D/d) of the circumscribed circle diameter (D) to the inscribed circle diameter (d) of the filament cross section in the range of 1.1-8, and the objective carpet is constituted with the multifilament crimped yarn.
