PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease operation quantities of mapping conversion and reverse mapping conversion with an audio encoding and decoding apparatus. SOLUTION: The audio encoding apparatus for encoding/decoding signals of plural channels over plural time sections comprises a parallel mapping conversion section 101 which stores the input signals of >=2 channels into one SIMD type variable and simultaneously carries out the mapping conversion for >=2 channels by using an SIMD type arithmetic and logic unit and a mapping signal compression section 102. The audio signals of the two channels (stereos) are inputted to the parallel mapping conversion section 101. The signals are subjected to mapping conversion in parallel by using the SIMD type arithmetic and logic unit and the SIMD type variable. The formed mapping signals are outputted to the mapping signal compression section 102.
