PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cage of an elevator capable of easily providing desired rigidity in a ceiling plate with a simple structure and reducing manufacturing costs of the elevator. SOLUTION: A circumference part of the ceiling plate 4 made of plates is supported on an upper edge part of a wall plate 2 and a reinforcement 10 made of square tubes is arranged on a lower face of the ceiling plate 4 and fastened by a fastener 11. Thereby an outside height of the cage does not increase and measures for upward extending of un upper end of a hoistway are not necessary in relation to other equipment arranged upward of the cage accordingly to reduce costs for installing the elevator. Since a smooth face is formed on an upper face of the ceiling plate 4, a working floor is not needed due to irregularity on the upper face to facilitate maintenance work on the upper face of the ceiling with little costs.
