PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hearth structure in which a refractory of a hearth width end part is not impaired, and a work to be heat-treated containing carbon is not dropped on a water-sealing part of a rotary hearth furnace in the rotary hearth furnace for manufacturing reduced metal by heating and reducing the work to be heat-treated containing carbon which consists of at least a material containing oxide metal and a reducing material containing carbon. SOLUTION: The upper part of the hearth width end part 1a is covered by a lower end part 2a of the sidewall 2 of a hood covering the entire hearth, and a cooling means 3 is provided on the lower end part 2a of thus sidewall.
