PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a valve timing adjusting device for reducing manufacturing manhours, and capable of easily changing driving torque by a hydraulic fluid. SOLUTION: A base material of a vane rotor 15 and a peripheral wall 12 of a housing member for relatively rotatably housing the vane rotor 15, is formed by cutting an extruded mold in the desired length by extrusively molding an aluminum alloy. The aluminum alloy is extracted after being extruded so that the extruded mold can be highly accurately molded. A 6000 system of Al-Mg-Si is desirably used as the aluminum alloy. The peripheral wall 12 and the vane rotor 15 are formed by applying cutting work and polishing work to the roughly molded base material. The volume of respective ignition timing lag hydraulic chambers and respective ignition timing advance hydraulic chambers increases and decreases by changing the cutting length. Even if pressure of the hydraulic fluid is the same, the torque for relatively rotatably driving the vane rotor 15 to the housing member can be changed, by changing the volume of the hydraulic chambers. |
