PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for casting aluminum or an aluminum alloy and a mold used for the casting method with which effect of a feeder is further improved and directional solidification can be achieved. SOLUTION: The casting method of aluminum or aluminum alloy including a step, in which molten aluminum alloy 9 is poured into a mold 17 having a bore insert 27, a step, in which the above molten alloy 9 flows into a narrow passage part B narrowed by sharply contracting the flowing passage for molten alloy 9 formed at the inside surface of the bore insert and the mold 17, a step, in which after flowing in the narrow passage part B, the molten alloy 9 is received and held into a cavity 63 between the mold 17 and the bore insert, and a step, in which the molten alloy 9 received and held in the cavity 63 is solidified, is formed by providing a recessed part 41 on the outer surface of the bore insert 49 positioned near the narrow passage part B and forming a hollow part 47 extended along the flow of the molten alloy 9 in the cavity 63 at the inner part of the bore insert 49.
