PURPOSE: Provided are a catalyst for olefin polymerization, which synthesizes a titanium compound chelate-bonded by amide and cyclopentadiene based ligand, and activates the obtained compound by traditional MgCl2 and etc, without using an expensive methylaluminoxane. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst is prepared by the steps of (i) reacting a compound of Mg(R'mAl(OR')nR)2(wherein, R and R' represent an alkyl group, n = 1, 2 or 3, m = 3-n) comprising magnesium and aluminum with cyclopentadiene based ligand, (ii) reacting the reacted compound with amide based ligand to form a magnesium-aluminum compound comprising a chelate ligand, and (iii) reacting the magnesium-aluminum compound with titanium halide compound of TiX(wherein, X represents Cl, Br or OR, R represents an alkyl group). The cyclopentadiene based ligand is cyclopentadiene, indene, or fluorene. The amide based ligand is 2-phenylamino-4-phenyl-imino-2-pentene or its derivative.
