PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a thermal spraying layer excellent in sliding characteristics by controlling the average surface hardness of the matrix of an aluminum alloy, which contains a specified amt. of Si and in which Si particles are dis persed, to specified value. SOLUTION: An atomizing powder of aluminum contg. 12 to 60 wt.% Si is subjected to heat treatment at 400 to 650 deg.C, and solid solution Si is precipitated into the matrix to prepare an aluminum alloy in which the average surface hardness (Hv) of the matrix is 50<=H<=(5/2)Si (weight%)+75). In this way, the wear resistance of the aluminum is improved, and seizuring therein is made hard to occur. Moreover, by incorporating 5 to 25 wt.% Sn, its wear resistance and seizuring resistance can be improved as well. Furthermore, at least one kind among <=7% Cu, <=5% Mg, <=5% Mn, <=5% Fe and <=8% Ni may be incorporated therein. |
