Thermal welding of reticulated polyethylene tubes, uses initial removal of surface material with reticulation rate over 25 per cent The thermal welding procedure for tubes or other three-dimensional objects of reticulated (co)polymer, in which the weld zones of the objects are heated to 180 - 250 degrees and then pressed together, includes an initial stage in which surface material from the weld zones with a reticulation rate above 25 per cent and preferably above 30 per cent is removed by a lathe, shaper or circular saw. The procedure is used, for instance, for butt welding of tubes with walls having a single layer of reticulated (co)polymer, or with an outer layer of reticulated (co)polymer and an inner layer of thermoplastic (co)polymer. |
