PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the pressure loss after an expansion stroke at cooling action such as cooling operation or the like, in a freezer which enables the reversible operation of a steam compression system of freezing cycle with a refrigerant circuit having a receiver 23. SOLUTION: This freezer is provided with the first inflow check valve (310 which allows only the inflow of a refrigerant to the receiver (23), in a refrigerant inlet from a heat exchanger (22) on heat source side to the receiver (23), and is provided with the second inflow check valve (23) which allows only the inflow of the refrigerant to the receiver (23), in a refrigerant inlet from heat exchangers (61 and 66) on utilization side to the receiver (23). This is further provided with an expansion mechanism (24) on heat source side, in a refrigerant outlet from the receiver (23) to the heat exchanger (22) on heat source side, and an outflow check valve (34) which allows only the outflow of the refrigerant from the receiver (23), in a refrigerant outlet from the receiver (23) to heat exchangers (61 and 66) on utilization side.
