PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture, with improved mass-productivity, a near-field optical head capable of recording and reproducing information at high speed with high density. SOLUTION: A stopper with nearly the same height as that of an awl-shaped chip is provided around the chip, the chip and a part of a contact body covering the stopper are displaced by an external force, and a part of the displaced contact body is brought into contact with a light-shielding film near the tip end of the chip to form an opening. This manufacturing method that enables a number of openings to be formed all together is excellent in mass-productivity, and also, the openings formed by this method have a structure having a high optical efficiency and a high resolution; therefore, the near-field optical head capable of high density/high speed recording and reproduction can be manufactured with superior mass-productivity. |
