摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp device miniaturized by increasing the operation frequency of a lighting circuit means in a range within a resonant frequency by providing a translucent ceramic discharge container having a resonant frequency of a nearly single mode and capable of increasing it and provide a lighting system using it. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a high-pressure discharge lamp 11 comprising the translucent ceramic discharge container 1 having a surrounding part 1a surrounding a discharge space and forming a nearly spherical shape having a sphericity of 0.6-1.0 and the maximum inside diameter of 2.0-5.5 mm, and a pair of electrodes 2 oppositely present in the surrounding part 1a, having a discharge medium enclosed in the surrounding part 1a, and having lamp power of 50 W or less; and the lighting circuit means 12 for lighting the high-pressure discharge lamp at a high frequency wherein a/f equals 0.4 or less when it is assumed that the operation frequency is f (kHz) and the inside diameter is a (mm).
