PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that can prevent a defect in which red print mixes with black print immediately after ink ribbons are switched.SOLUTION: The printer has a ribbon guide 16 which is configured so that the area of a printing head 19 for receiving an ink ribbon is enlarged so as to inhibit the ink ribbon from getting caught in an edge of the printing head 19 when the ribbons are switched in a lateral direction by color switching means. This can prevent red print from mixing with black print.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
