PURPOSE: A groove shape profile is formed in a basic circular area of a cam not to change contacting position of a tappet face in a nose and plank area of the cam. CONSTITUTION: When a cam(12) is mounted in a cam shaft(10), a contact of the cam is a little offset from a center of a tappet face to help easy rotation of a tappet(20). A profile shape of the cam in a basic circular area(18) is formed as a groove shape instead of a protruding shape. The contacting position of the tappet face is not changed from the contacting position of a nose(14) and a plank(16) area.
