PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling gearshift of an automatic transmission for a car are provided to perform different kick down shift controls according to a time that kick down shift occurs. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling gearshift of an automatic transmission for a car includes a car driving detecting part(100), a gearshift controlling part(200), and a driving part(300). The car driving detecting part detects a car driving condition variably output according to a driving condition of the car. The gearshift controlling part outputs control signal to the car driving detecting part to receive a signal detected by the car driving detecting part, receives a gearshift mode state of the car, a throttle valve opening level, rotational frequency of an output shaft, engine rotational frequency, oil temperature and acceleration pedal operation states, controls lift foot up(L.F.U) transmission by a previously set program if an L.F.U shift condition is satisfied, controls kick down shift according to a kick down shift time, and outputs gearshift duty control signal. The driving part is controlled by the gearshift duty control signal, supplies and releases oil pressure supplied from an oil pump to the corresponding friction element, and performs kick down shift control during the L.F.U control.
