<p>A process for highly efficiently producing various arylbis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)methanes which have a bulky aryl group or electron-attracting aryl group and which have conventionally been regarded as difficult to synthesize; a novel arylbis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)methane widely applicable as a catalyst for asymmetric synthesis, various functional materials, etc.; metal salts of these; and an excellent catalyst. An arylhalomethane is reacted with sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate. The arylmethyltrifluorocarbon yielded is reacted with t-BuLi, etc. The arylmethyltrifluorocarbon lithium salt obtained is reacted with trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride. Thus, an arylbis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)methane, e.g., pentafluorophenylbis(trifuryl)methane or {4-(pentafluorophenyl)-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl}bis(trifuryl)methane, is obtained in high yield.</p> |
