The present invention provides a printing apparatus for printing a plurality of data sets, each being composed of a plurality of pages, to a plurality of paper discharging device, and also a controlling method thereof. The printing apparatus according to one aspect of the present invention includes: a plurality of paper discharging device; a judging device that judges whether or not the load of a currently using paper discharging outlet exceeds the maximum permissible load (Smax), if another set of paper sheets following the currently being printed set is discharged to the paper discharging device during the printing operation of a plurality of sets of paper to be outputted, by comparing the maximum permissible load (Smax) and the result of the (Bnow+1)xPdata, wherein "Bnow "indicates the number of data sets currently being printed out and "Pdata" indicates that how many pages one data consists of; a control device that, when the first judging device judges that the load of a currently using paper discharging outlet exceeds the maximum permissible load, discharges the next set to another loadable paper discharging device, and stops the currently performing printing that there is no other vice.
