METHOD FOR EXTRACTING SCOPOLETIN FROM ARTEMISIA CAPILLARIS

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for extracting scopoletin from Artemisia capillaris. The scopoletin inhibits the generation of hepatitis B surface antigen. Therefore, a pharmaceutical composition containing it as an active ingredient is used as a therapeutic for hepatitis B. CONSTITUTION: A method for extracting scopoletin from Artemisia capillaris is characterized by extracting Artemisia capillaris with aqueous solvent, such as water at 60-90 deg.C for 12-48 hours; and performing DEAE anion exchange chromatography or reversed phase HPLC to give scopoletin.
